Oh what a night...

Oh today was a tough day.  Well, rather it was a tough afternoon.  I don't have any pictures to share...thankfully...because they wouldn't be pretty.  This is a short take on an email I sent to a friend the evening all of this happened.  Wow is all I can say!

"...this is what happened…Henry drew, with marker, all over the dining room floor (thank goodness they were washable BUT HE DOESN’T KNOW THAT!), he drew all over himself…hands, knees everything.  This is, mind you, while I am making dinner in the kitchen.  Mom could see him but couldn't see WHAT he was doing.  Then he walked all over the marker on the floor so it was then on his foot as he walks through the kitchen leaving marks.  NEXT, while I am making dinner, he goes into my purse and takes out my little ‘toiletry’ bag…he puts ALL of the gum in his mouth and spits it out…next I notice a snake trail on the floor of MY L’OCCITAINE HAND CREAM THAT I LOVE DEARLY THAT COSTS A FORTUNE. Next!  I see him standing next to our beige sofa with my FRESH LIP GLOSS unscrewed, in hand ready to smear it on the sofa.  UGH!  At 8:15 (post dinner which was yes, late) I give Henry half of a cupcake that Sophia got for Henry (at a play date earlier in the day)…he crumbles part of it in his hand and then drops the rest on the floor.  THEN when my kids are still telling me at 8:30 that they are STILL hungry I say NO MORE! …except you can have some jello because it is just sitting there and takes no effort in preparation on my end.  And, for some reason I just can’t say no to "I'm still hungry mom".  That is an entirely different issue.  I think, well Henry is sitting here in his underwear (because he smeared cupcake everywhere and all over his pj’s)…what can go wrong with jello?  Henry takes it in his hands and starts to squeeze…so now there are little jello droppings all over the floor, the table and his booster…mixed in with cupcake crumbs and frosting.  I did cry tonight BUT I having had a glass of wine and some alone time and now I am at peace.  What a day!  This mind you, does not include ANY Of the crying that occurred during this time.  Calgon take me away!  Far away!

Go fish or go home...

I must be honest, I have dreaded Henry giving up his afternoon nap.  BUT, much to my surprise it has been quite nice!  No more racing home to get him down for a nap he didn't want to take...spending much more time upstairs than need to be TRY and get him to take a nap and lastly, spending too much time at bedtime trying to get Henry to sleep because he wasn't tired...because he had taken a nap!   It was time....

We took a leap of faith and just decided to do away with the nap...and it has been great!  We are trying to get into our 'quiet time' routine, followed by some play time.

This fun day we decided to play some 'Go Fish' for the first time...Sophia loved the game as did I.  Henry liked the game too although he is a bit on the young side to really understand how to play but he did sit through and play nicely.  Henry would say, "Go fish, go home!" and just giggle...it was fun!

An afternoon with the girls...

This past week Beauty and the Beast was re-released in 3-D and I thought it would be so much fun to get Sophia and her friends together for an afternoon at the movies..and it was so  much fun!  Not only was it fun, but it was priceless.  How long will it be that the girls want to dress up to go to movies?  Just loved every moment :)

Drawing update...

A few months ago I posted an entry with Sophia's first drawing...she has come such a long way I just had to share!  I wasn't able to rotate the pictures so my apologies for the sideways view.

I also have to note that since she has been drawing legs and feet...she ALWAYS draws ten toes and it is so cute.  She always counts and gets it right...5 and 5.  Hands and fingers don't seem to be as important as those little toes :)

The picture from around Halloween

This was where we were in early December...

And this is where we are today!

Ride 'em cowboy!

After 7 years of living in Denver, we finally thought it might be appropriate..and fun of course...to take the kids to the National Western Stock Show here in Denver.  I must say I have heard many pro's, as well as cons, about the nature of this show.  At the end of the day we thought is was fun and the kids had LOADS of fun!  We saw horses, cows, roosters, hens, chicks, pigs, goats and perhaps the largest turkey I have ever seen!

I can honestly say that we were in the midst of some serious cowboys...

Well, this was just a cute pic from earlier in the day...
Henry and the pony ride, he loved it!  Do you see Sophia and I in the background?

These bad boys proved to be a bit painful to Sophia's teeth later in the event...ouch!
My friend and yours...John Deere

A very little train ride...

A fun day at the Children's Museum

It has been a long time since we have visited the Children's Museum...they had so much fun!  We made the trip and met up with our friends MacKenzie, DJ, Cole and their mom Julie.  It was so much fun to see the kids play in ALL of different areas.  Such a GREAT museum!

Making pizza of course...

Shopping at the grocery store...

Making H-U-G-E bubbles...

Watching rockets (after making their own)....

Checking on the doggies at the vet...or is Henry checking his own ear?

And of course riding on a cow...

Proud mommy moment...

We all have these days where we wonder, "WHY can our kids NOT get along"?  I don't understand sometimes..I really do not.

Today was the day that I decided to have Henry try out 'big kid lunch bunch' with Sophia's classmates.  Currently, Henry has had to do lunch bunch with his own classmates (2 to 3 year olds).  Once he turns 3, he is able to join the 'big kids' (3 to 6).  I can honestly say I wasn't sure how it would turn out..."Would Sophia be nice to Henry?", "Would Sophia ignore Henry?", "Would they argue?"...I really just did not know...

Much to my surprise when I arrived at school to pick them up, they were playing together on the playground with smiles and laughs all around.  The Director of the school, Miss Susan, pulled me aside and told me how adorable their interaction was at lunch bunch...

Henry was brought into the room by Miss Janee a bit late so the older kids at already been seated and had started to eat their lunch.  Miss Janee said to Sophia, "I brought someone special to eat lunch with you!"  And with that, Sophia excitedly swiped her food aside and said, "hi Henry!"  Then she turned to her friend Kate who was seated next to her and said, "Kate...you need to move to another table."  With that Miss Janee told Sophia that perhaps it would be nice if she sat with Henry at another table.  Sophia happily got up and said, 'ok!" and went and sat with Henry.

From what I heard, Sophia treated her little brother extremely well...as a guest in her big kid lunch bunch.  I was so extremely happy :)

As an added bonus.... I was making dinner and the kids were sitting at the dining table coloring and drawing.  I overheard Henry say (as I was busy in the kitchen), "Sophia, I really like drawing with you".  Sophia:  "I really like drawing with you too".  Henry:  "This is fun!"  Well, I can tell you that this was NOT the first time they were at the dining table doing art together...and that I have NEVER heard them say this to each other.  It was extremely sweet....

I just love when they get along :)
