"Don't Swoop!"

A full day of swimming today which was fun...trying to figure out how I can get myself out of the pool and Henry into private lessons. :) They have come such a long way in such a short time...

After naps we had to run errands and because Dad had a late night, I thought it would be a fun treat for them to go to the Cricket and and have some frozen yogurt (although they know it as 'ice cream').

Sophia and Henry, you only share on the very RARE occasion... I asked WHO was going to share 1 lonesome french frie, and I braced myself for a big fat "NO" from both of you. When much to my surprise, Sophia you offered me one frie. I was very excited... (they are one of my favorite foods...). Maybe my kids WILL actually learn the sharing concept.

I graciously took the ONE french frie and then swirled it through Sophia's ketchup. She quickly exclaimed, "MOM!!! Don't SWOOP your frie! You need to dip it or else I won't have any ketchup left. Don't SWOOP Mom!" I must admit that I did "Swoop" it through the red mound of ketchup...my one french frie deserved a big ol' swoop, not just a dip!

In the end the most astounding thing to me was...where on EARTH did my daughter learn the term "swoop" AND how did she learn to use it in the right context???

Amazing how wonderful these little people are...our little kiddies and we love them to pieces...

Some moments in the week...

Oh these moments are few and far in between but I love to see the kiddies have a peaceful moment together...

A morning at the Children's Museum...

And a trip to the dentist for Sophia and she did GREAT I might add...received a thorough teeth cleaning plus a fluoride treatment with absolutely no complaints :)

"Thankful for our Family Day"...Valentine's Day

Most people celebrate today as Valentine's Day...it is a day to be filled with loved. Love of family, love for our loved ones. Happiness and love.

Baby Cecil was born on Valentine's Day... On this day, we celebrate his birth, our love of him, for him and with him for the brief time he was here. On this day we also celebrate and are thankful for the family we have with us now...Sophia and Henry. To ALL of our kiddies, we love ALL of you... Off to Boulder for our annual v-day together...lunch at Lucille's and a walk around Pearl Street, a beautiful day...

Out for an afternoon walk, Sophia convinced Henry that he really 'wanted' to dress up in his leopard Halloween costume, while Sophia wore her princess costume... :)

Happy happy 'sleepless' birthday??

Well, I can honestly say that we did NOT start out Henry's official birthday as i had thought...

Dad is out of town in London and has been all week. After a wonderful party the day before, the kiddies were just plain tired...as was I. Unfortunately, I didn't sleep so w know well and was up at 2pm reading a book during this sleepless night of mine. All of a sudden the house alarm went off (my biggest fear!)!!

I called 911...i was so scared but had to be strong for not only myself but also the kids. The operator tried to talk me through everything, I tried to reassure the kids. Sophia was crying and Henry was shaking...they obviously just did not understand. The kiddies did not want to go back to THEIR beds. So we all hopped into our bed. It was fun, for about 5 minutes...

I laid on my side, Henry in the middle, Sophia on Dad's side. Sophia understood this was a rare experience so she truly tried to be accommodating and agreeing, 'yes mommy, i am going to sleep!'. Henry, you were just stunned at your new sleep surrounding. As you gnawed on stinky froggie, you just looked at everything in the room as if you had never seen it before! Asking questions...trying to be funny by sticking froggie in my face, etc. I laughed, it was fun. However, after an hour i had to convince you to go to your room...Off you went! Sophia woke me up bright in the morning.

As frightening as the night had been, esp without Cecil in the house, I was happy to have my kiddies right next to me...

Henry...happy birthday to you little man. We had a very nice day and luckily Dad came home that night! Presents come tomorrow...

In our bed, post alarm...2:30am

Dad racing home to see Henry on his big birthday day...

Dad is home, let us eat MORE cake!!

Our lazy weekend...

What a nice and relaxing weekend...not much on the books at all. On Saturday we had a big trip to Costco and practically ate our way through the warehouse!!

Saturday night we had a fun filled night having dinner out at LaLa's pizza and wine bar. Another very snowy day with more to come in a few days. (Sophia, you look so old to me in the picture!)

A family walk to round out the weekend, just lovely!

p.s. I wanted to note that I have realized another reason that I am enjoying this blog, I get to take more pictures of Dad with the kiddies. He is usually the one behind the nice camera and for the blog, it is mostly mom behind the camera which I do love!

Back to the cold...

...and I mean REALLY cold! -11 out the door this morning. Supposed to be -32 tonight with the windchill, you can feel the breeze in the house!

Most of the schools were closed today so I knew it would be a long day indoors.

Made some pancakes with Henry first thing!

Decided to take the kids to the gym early and have Patty's famous smoothie treat after....

After 'quiet/nap' time, we made chocolate chip cookies and then dinner.

Sophia so nicely proclaimed (of my dinner of chicken grilled on the cast iron pan, with lemon juice and Lawry's), "look mom! I don't want ketchup anymore!" Compliments to the chef! That is a milestone indeed...

Back from sort-of-warm Mexico to freeeeezing Denver!

Literally, it is supposed to be negative digits tomorrow.

In any event, we are back from a wonderful 4 night trip to Cabo San Lucas in celebration of my mother's 70th birthday. Had a fabulous time!

The weather was only so-so which I didn't anticipate at all but great to be away. The days were spent eating and swimming at the pool (well, I sat most of the time because I was so cold but Dad made it in the pool to actually swim with the kiddies. Heidi, no pool and Poppie, in the pool with lots of swimming! Many fun nights out...Sophia and Henry truly couldn't have been any better. Although, Henry...one night in (thankfully!) you cried and cried about 'guys'. Very strange...Sophia said something about 'guys' and Henry, you FLIPPED out... Sort of funny now but not when it was going on :)

Here is just a sampling of some fun trip pics! (I don't have any of Dad yet because he took all of the pics from his camera...here is to hoping Heidi will send me some from hers that has good ol' Dad)
